After years of whispers and hearsay, the most persistent rumor in the recent history of the Tech World is finally coming to fruition. It’s Verizon iPhone day. Verizon announced the long-awaited release of the iPhone 4 on its network at a press conference on Tuesday. It will begin selling a version of the iPhone 4 on Feb. 10, offering buyers of U.S. iPhone a range of media for the first time.
Verizon customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 4 on Feb. 3, new customers on Feb. 10, for $199 for a 16-gigabyte version, $299 for the 32 GB model. The iPhone 4 features a 5-megapixel camera with a LED flash, HD video recording, Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities for up to five devices and access to more than 300,000 apps through Apple’s App Store.

Since Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone in January 2007, rumors and release dates have floated for years on when the device would come to the Verizon network. Today’s announcement ends the exclusive contract AT&T has had will Apple since the iPhone launched.
"We have enormous respect for the company this team has built and the hard-won loyalty they've won from their customers," said Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook, who joined McAdam onstage at Lincoln Center. "This is just the beginning of a great relationship between Apple and Verizon."
Although Verizon Wireless is the largest mobile operator in the country, he lost out to AT & T in the battle to sign up for high-paying subscribers smart phone because of the exclusive iPhone AT & T. In recent years, Verizon has encouraged phones with Google Inc. Android operating system as an alternative to the iPhone.
