The United States was catapulted into a worldwide diplomatic crisis today, with the leaking to the international media of more than 250,000 classified cables from its embassies, many sent as recently as February this year.
The electronic archive of embassy dispatches from around the world was allegedly downloaded by a US soldier earlier this year and passed to WikiLeaks. Assange made it available to the Guardian and four other news organisations: the New York Times, Der Spiegel in Germany, Le Monde in France and El PaĆs in Spain.
All five plan to publish extracts from the most significant cables, but have decided neither to "dump" the entire dataset into the public domain, nor to publish names that would endanger innocent individuals. WikiLeaks says that, contrary to the state department's fears, it also initially intends to post only limited cable extracts, and to redact identities

If any materials in the next posting of documents by the WikiLeaks site were provided by government officials without proper authorization, "they were provided in violation of U.S. law and without regard for the grave consequences of this action," the U.S. State Department's legal adviser said.
In a letter to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange dated Saturday, State Department Legal Adviser Harold Hongju Koh said he was responding to a letter about plans to publish "what you claim to be classified U.S. government documents."
"Next release is 7x the size of the Iraq War Logs," the group stated via Twitter last Monday. "Intense pressure over it for months. Keep us strong."
The information blitz from WikiLeaks is expected to offer a glimpse into the worldwide communications of the State Department and its 297 embassies, consulates and missions through what commonly are referred to as "cables."

How Internet Changed Our Lives
Read Other Live Content News and Tips
Simply put - the Internet changed everything. Consider for a moment that Google is still only a "teenager"; that 50 years ago the computer you are working on right now, would have been the size of a building; that in 20 years time - it will fit on the top of a pin.
The Internet has revolutionized many industries; take for example the news media. News stories now break and spread like wildfire online, reaching all corners of the globe in mere minutes. The essence of this lies in the fact that, the Internet is quite fluid and instant by its very nature.

Thanksgiving Gratitude
Read Other Live Content News and Tips
I want to begin by wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving! In America, we observe Thanksgiving this week, but I hope each of you has a special day for gratitude and celebration.
Thanksgiving is celebrated on fourth Thursday of November in the United States and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday of October. It became a federal holiday in 1941 in United States. The First Thanksgiving was given to express gratitude to god for saving the pilgrims from harsh winter.
While we get ready to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States on Thursday, Nov. 25, it's easy to focus mainly on the turkey dinner and the football games. But this holiday always brings us back to what's important in our lives: the love of family and friends, being alive, the beautiful world around us, the happiness we have found in the work we do and the pleasure we take in the arts, music and the books we read.
Whether or not it's an official holiday where you live, set aside time for appreciation and gratitude.
Sometimes it's tempting to focus on the things we don't have, and forget how blessed we truly are. Gratitude and appreciation are good things. In the midst of our American traditions of fun, food, football and family, take time to be thankful!
Many families have a family prayer. The family prayer includes blessings from the past year, family members serving in the military, members that are absent for various reasons, good health and prosperity.

Recycling Mobile Phones
Read Other Live Content News and Tips.
It is always a great thing to contribute positively to the environment and it feels good when you recycle something, especially an electronic device, rather than contributing to the already huge landfills. Mobile phones are one of the most popular electronic devices that you can find being used in the UK today and as a result, many are made redundant when they are still in perfect working order simply because a new model has been released. As a result, it was inevitable that environmental initiatives would be put in place which allowed for them to be recycled and disposed of properly and there are now many companies and charities that will take your old mobile phones as a donation and either recycle or pass on your phone to those less fortunate.
You might start wondering about how you can benefit from recycling your mobile phone now that you know what the options are. When people first started recycling phones they gave them up freely without getting anything in return as this was really the only option other than throwing them in the bin and today you can still do this by giving your phone to charity. You can of course be paid to recycle your old mobile phone but often the benefits of giving to charity outweigh the few pounds you'll get from sending it to a private company. The condition of the used mobile phone will determine what you can do with it as many charities won't have a use for a broken mobile phone.
Check Other Live Content News and Tips.
However, if your phone is broken it is worth contacting a company that will get some use out of it anyway, or at the very least operate an environmental initiative that disposes of it in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. These companies are often able to reuse certain parts when refurbishing old phones or as spares for those phones which need repairing. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility schemes, your company may be able to help you dispose correctly of everything from mobile phones and computers, to paper and printer ink cartridges so with so much environmental awareness in every local community, there really is no excuse to throw anything that can be harmful into the bin.
So now you need to ask yourself what effort it would take to recycle your old mobile phones and realise that the answer is very little and the results of your actions could be huge.

Success Through Failure
Read Other Live Content News and Tips
How many times have we tried to test new ideas and have failed to reach our goal? Studies show that it is a normal situation. The first time we ventured to a new experience, we seldom get the desired result.
Unfortunately, many of us feel that the fact of not succeeding is a sign of incompetence. In response, we do everything to hide our failures so that people will not see as "losers." This is the main reason why most of us do not dare to take risks.
However, if we continue to stay in our comfort zone and do not move, it is obvious that we will not win anything. In such a case, ask yourself this question: if we constantly use the same technique, how can we expect to have different results? Do not be afraid of change.

In book excerpts published in the Vatican newspaper on Saturday night, the pope stated that using condoms to stop the spread of Aids could be justified in certain cases – in particular among prostitutes.
The U.N. AIDS agency welcomed the pope’s comments but cautioned they were only a first step toward making the use of condoms acceptable among Catholics.
“This is a significant and positive step forward taken by the Vatican,” said UNAIDS Executive Director Michel SidibĆ© in a statement released on Sunday.

NUD, guided by its declaration of indefriendence, reminds us that “all men are not created equal. Some men are very annoying.” Kimmel has declared today a day for "cutting the fat" on your social networking connections.

The Age Of Mediocrity?
Read Other Urban Lifestyle News and Tips.
A famous greeting card company once used as their slogan, "When you care enough to give the very best." This was a fabulous philosophy if most of actually followed it. Unfortunately, we seem to have entered an age when many people merely do the minimum that they can do, and get away with it. When we ask many children how they did on an exam, it is not unusual to get the response, "I did okay." Yet, what exactly is okay?
When we examine the greatest athletes, they did not become great by accepting mediocrity, or doing okay, or just "trying." Many of the world's greatest golfers spent countless hours practicing repeatedly, working out, working with coaches - - all in an effort to be better. However, when we observe most workers in today's work force, it seems that the vast majority do not dedicate themselves to be the very best. When I interview individuals for any employment position, those who come across to me as looking at the position as simply a "job" are usually given far less consideration, than those that appear to consider the position an opportunity. Of course, in some cases, workers develop that attitude because the supervisor, manager, or even the owner of that company, have a "get away with the least you can do" attitude.
