WikiLeaks switches to Swiss domain after attacks. Wikileaks was forced Friday to switch over to a Swiss domain name, wikileaks.ch, after a new round of hacker attacks on its system prompted its American domain name provider to withdraw service. WikiLeaks' U.S. domain name system provider, EveryDNS, withdrew service to the wikileaks.org name late Thursday, saying it took the action because the new hacker attacks threatened the rest of its network.
Meanwhile, Éric Besson, the Minister of Industry, Energy and Digital Economy in France, has declared war on WikiLeaks.
Besson has asked CGIET (The General Council of Industry, Energy and Technology) to stop the site being hosted in France, as this violates secret diplomatic relations and endangers the people protected by those secrets.
WikiLeaks has made more moves than any other website we’ve seen in recent history, and it’s likely only a matter of time before the website moves again, thanks to political issues.
